North Shore

Eagle Plumbing are proud to be based on the North Shore, and be residents of the area. In fact we have been in the North Shore for most of our lives, and now, our children are growing up here too.

So it’s fair to say we know the area like the back of our hand. This is great from a plumbers perspective because we understand which roads get backed up during peak hour traffic, and those that don’t, allowing us to get your job complete faster.

Our Background

When I was doing my apprenticeship I came to realise that the North Shore has a unique plumbing system, as the contrast in the way houses have been plumbed varies greatly. This is something we are very familiar with, and to get anything fixed quickly requires a great deal of local plumbing knowledge.

So in order to keep our understanding up to date we run workshops for our plumbers from time to time to ensure they know all the latest technologies and methodologies available. And you thought this plumbing stuff is easy! Haha good one!

North Shore Plumbing

The majority of North Shore homes were built between 1970 and 1990 during the Auckland housing boom, and use either Alkathene, Polubuteline or PVC piping. We find that some trouble areas are the black pipes that run underneath the house, as they tend to split after years of use. The council has since put in place new regulations for these materials to ensure they last longer.

If you are doing a renovation and you need a council consent, you should be looking to your project manager to help you out in this area, as it can be an expensive, complicated and time consuming process. When it comes to the plumbing aspect we regularly price up jobs based on the architectural drawings, and ensure that we can source the required materials at a good rate to meet council regulations.

Historical Suburbs

The North Shore also has a range of more historical areas such as Devonport and Northcote Point where the majority of dwellings were built in the 1800’s, and as a result have very old sewage systems and use old, outdated plumbing materials.

These areas can be more problematic and slightly more difficult to service due to their age. When it comes to renovations in these areas we generally replace the old piping and any other materials to ensure we have a good, solid plumbing setup that will stand up for years to come.

New Areas Of Development

At the moment on the North Shore there are lots of new developments happening in areas like Hobsonville, Albany and Silverdale that are using more modern plumbing materials. The plumbing in these areas are generally cheaper to maintain and easier to work on.

The dwellings allow for better access to drainage and plinths, and use more modern plumbing products and materials that are easy to source and cheap to buy. If you have a plumbing problem and you live in one of these areas, chances are it will be quite straight forward to fix (however we cannot guarantee this).

We also take care of new build plumbing and bathroom renovations.

In Conclusion
